Rainy weekend

It was a typical UK weekend weather, heavy rains n wind battered much of UK today. So didnt get a chance to go out and about, hence all clicks were either indoors or taken while being indoors using 50-300mm lens.

First off something indicative of the weather, I put up this one coz of the hazy color at the background and the droplets reflecting a bit of the scene outside.

FL 110mm, ISO 100, SS 4secs, Fstop 4.5

Lilies, will post more when it blooms. FL 55mm, ISO 200, SS 2secs, Fstop 5.6

The one below is my favourite of the lot. My daughter is showing some interest now, she picked up a basil leaf dipped it in water and asked me to capture the droplets on the leaf, I obeyed and it came out perfect, due to a high fstop her face is blurred out and her hands looks just about sticking out of the picture.

A little addition

Photo blogging on a weekday is difficult, with a day job in precedence I get little time toying around with the camera. Even if I do get time the possibility of getting a perfect shot is remote, especially being a beginner. But found some time to read about techniques during lunch hour at work. Stumbled upon this blog by Mike Shaw, inspirational stuff. Follow the link  http://mikefshaw.blogspot.co.uk/ .

Heres a couple I managed today, not very impressed personally. This was taken in Apperture priority, f-stop 8, shutter speed 1/200 with a 18-50mm lens. These are again from our backyard garden.

The above is a house plant, fern I think, I maybe wrong not very good with plants. f-stop 5.6, shutter1/80.

Thats all for today, got an IT certification exam coming up so am off.

And it begins..

I had always wanted to write blogs on some subject / interest, but was struggling to zero in on a subject. Recenly I bought myself a Canon D500 with 18-55mm and 70-300mm glasses (the pros quote 'glasses' instead of 'lenses' I gathered ;-)  ), with its arrival I found myself reading a lot on photography techniques and trying out different compositions.

Blogs, I thought would be a good medium for preserving my clicks, most importantly along with some descriptions so that later on I could look back and relive the moment. Besides I am hoping I get some interesting comments, tips and advice to improve upon my skills.

So here goes, the following pictures were captured with basic knowledge on apertures and shutter speeds so it could be a bit amateurish.

I have tried and described each clicks with a small summary of the events surrounding it and little caption befitting the picture.

All pics were captured RAW, later converted to jpgs.

We try and refill the bird feed every week, the above click was taken when all the food were gone, that perhaps explains one sitting on top of it and its dejected look. It took me a good few clicks before I got what I wanted.

Alert
This was taken at the backyard again through my bedroom window, the fence seem to be this birds favourite  place since I've seen it sitting there a number of times.
